Great location near Sarphati Park. Friendly staff available 24/7 with buzzer entry. Free breakfast included. Charming building with a cool cat in the lobby. Fewer guests and improved beds would make it an excellent hostel.

it was OK, as expected, may go back some other time
I was only there one night (this time), cannot think on major improvements to suggest

Good location. Easy connection to the city centre – by walk or tram. Friendly and helpful staff creating a nice atmosphere. Delicious breakfast. In general - good value for money.
Very narrow toilet inclusive shower. Shower bath direct next to toilet bowl.

I recently stayed at Hostel Sarphati for a few nights during my trip to Amsterdam. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful during my stay. The location of the hostel was perfect, with a beautiful park just across the street. I was pleased to see that my room was cleaned regularly, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast provided was simple but satisfying, with a good variety of tea, coffee, bread, and spreads. The wifi at the hostel worked fantastically, which was a big plus. I also found the brochures in the foyer to be very useful for navigating the city.
Can recommend this hotel.

I had a great experience at the hostel! The location was perfect for exploring the city and there were plenty of shops nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The room I stayed in was warm and comfortable, with a new bathroom that was clean and modern. I also appreciated the option to leave my luggage after check-out. I would definitely recommend this hostel for a pleasant stay in Amsterdam.

The price
It was very noisy, the walls are very thin. The rooms very tiny for 10 beds and there was a lot of mold in the (otherwise pretty clean) shower.

Review:
The hostel is conveniently located opposite a park and near the center of the city, making it easily accessible to all the main tourist attractions. the rooms are small and some have no windows, but they are clean. the staff is friendly and helpful. the breakfast menu is limited, consisting of bread, peanut butter, jam, and black coffee. the hostel lacks proper storage for luggage and the bathrooms are small and sometimes unpleasant. it is a decent option for budget travelers, despite its shortcomings.

Bright artistic decor and welcoming foyer. Good location and access to tram stops. Good shower room and TV. Apologies given for not giving us ground floor room as requested. Fresh bread and quite good choice of breakfast food.
Beds are not too comfortable and pillow was hard. Fruit was not fresh and breakfast room was locked despite sign which said that there was access to drinks at all times. Stairs are very steep when carrying lugggage.

The staff at Sarphati Hotel were wonderfully helpful, especially as we were stuck in Amsterdam during the volcanic ashcloud situation. They very helpfully extended our stay to tide us over the period. Location is also good as there is a tram stop right outside the hotel and the park is right across the road. A couple of nice cafes are also round the corner.
Some of the rooms may be a bit small, but still clean and cosy nonetherless. The lack of elevators and steep staircases may be a problem for travellers carrying large suitcases.
